I called it “Boxing Day” because the last time I did a guitar drone track it was on a Labor Day. At first I thought it was a slight misnomer, because Boxing day is the day after Christmas. But according to Wikipedia “Boxing Day is a secular holiday but is usually on 26 December unless this is a Sunday in which case it moves to 27th: the public holiday is always moved to the following Monday if 26 December is a Saturday or Sunday; for example if Christmas Day is a Friday, Boxing Day will be on Saturday but the public holiday will be the following Monday.”
Anyway, the loop at the start is mostly a GetLofi 1 string guitar. This has a magnet at one end, and the pickup is a contact microphone in a soup can. If you pop the soup can off the 1 string guitar, it makes a great defective microphone. In fact some of the best sounds out of the 1-string guitar involve abusing the pickup physically.
The rest of the track is guitar through an Akai Headrush and Fender Princeton 65 transistor amp.
